A new round of the nationwide "Clear Your Plate" campaign against wasting food gained steam online in China this August. The aim of the campaign was to both boost public awareness of food waste and also encourage people to develop thrifty habits.

Social media users shared photos or videos of their empty plates after finishing their meals with the hashtag #GuangPanXingDong on Weibo to show their support.
